In short: we are an SEO company in Pretoria working with South African businesses. Most SEO in South Africa runs R3,000–R20,000 a month depending on how competitive your market is. Results take three to six months. If anyone promises page one in thirty days, walk away.
What an SEO agency in South Africa actually does for you
Search engine optimisation is three jobs that only work together. Make the site technically legible to Google. Publish pages that answer what people are genuinely searching for. Earn enough trust from the rest of the web that Google believes you.
Most agencies sell you one of the three and call it SEO. A technical audit with no content behind it moves nothing. Content with no authority behind it sits on page four. We will tell you which of the three is actually holding you back before you spend anything — and sometimes the honest answer is that SEO is not your problem at all.
How much do SEO services in South Africa cost?
Between R3,000 and R20,000 a month for most South African small and medium businesses. The range is wide because the work is not the same everywhere: a single-location plumber competing in one suburb needs a fraction of what a national e-commerce brand needs.
- R3,000–R6,000 — local. One location, Google Business Profile, citations, reviews, a handful of service pages.
- R6,000–R12,000 — growth. Multiple services or suburbs, ongoing content, technical work, link earning.
- R12,000–R20,000 — competitive. National terms, crowded categories, or recovering from a penalty or a bad previous agency.
All excluding VAT. One-off audits sit outside this. If your budget is under R3,000 a month, we will say so rather than take it — below that the work cannot be done properly and you are buying activity, not results.
Can I do SEO myself?
Some of it, genuinely. Claim and complete your Google Business Profile. Get your name, address and phone number identical everywhere it appears. Ask happy customers for reviews and reply to every one. Write honestly about what you do, for people rather than for search engines. That is a weekend of work and it is worth real money.
What needs an agency is the part that compounds: technical health, content built on measured search demand, and earning links from places that will not respond to a template email. If you have done the weekend and still cannot be found, that is when to call someone.
How long before SEO works?
Three to six months before movement you can see in Search Console, longer in competitive categories. Anyone quoting faster is either selling paid ads under another name or building the kind of links that get sites penalised.
The honest version: month one is measurement and fixing. Months two and three are publishing and technical work. Movement typically starts showing in months three to six, and compounds from there. We report on Search Console impressions and positions from week one so you can see the direction before the traffic arrives.
How to choose an SEO company in South Africa
- Ask what they would do first, and why. A good answer names something specific about your site. A bad one describes a package.
- Ask how they build links. If the answer involves guest post networks, directories in bulk, or anything described as “contextual dofollow backlinks”, leave. We have cleaned up sites damaged by exactly that.
- Ask what they will report. Rankings alone are vanity. Impressions, positions, clicks and enquiries are the chain that matters.
- Ask what they will not do. An agency with no limits will do anything, including things that cost you later.
What you get with us
We are a small Pretoria agency, so you deal with the people doing the work. Every engagement starts with a measurement of where you actually stand — not a proposal built on assumptions. You get a monthly report written in English, showing what changed and what it cost.
We also publish our own research. Our field study of 4,078 South African small businesses found that 42.9% have no website at all, rising to 59.4% in small towns. We measure this market rather than repeat statistics from the United States.
Talk to us
If you want to know where you stand before committing to anything, run our free local SEO audit — it takes about two minutes and gives you a scored report.
If you would rather talk to a person, get in touch. We will tell you honestly whether we can help, and if we cannot, we will say who might.
