Google Ads Management South Africa

Table of Contents

In short: we manage Google Ads for South African businesses. Below roughly R8,000 a month in ad spend, Google Ads rarely earns its keep against management fees — and we will tell you that before you sign anything. Above it, ads buy you customers this week rather than in six months.

What Google Ads management actually involves

Setting up a campaign takes an afternoon. Making it profitable takes attention every week: which searches are actually triggering your ads, which of them convert, which are quietly draining the budget, and what the landing page does with the click once it arrives.

Most wasted Google Ads spend in South Africa goes the same way — broad match keywords with no negative list, ads pointing at a homepage instead of a relevant page, and conversion tracking that was never set up properly, so nobody can tell which half of the budget worked.

Should I use Google Ads or SEO?

It depends on how soon you need the phone to ring and how much you have to spend.

  • Google Ads when you need enquiries in days, you are launching something new with no rankings, you are in a category where the organic results are locked down by established players, or you have a promotion with an end date.
  • SEO when you have time, a tight monthly budget, a high cost per click in your category, or a long sales cycle where people research before they buy.

The honest version is that most businesses eventually want both, and the order matters more than the choice. Ads while SEO builds is the usual sequence. We have written this out in detail: SEO vs Google Ads South Africa.

Does running Google Ads help SEO?

No, not directly. Paying Google for ads does not improve your organic rankings, and anyone telling you otherwise is guessing. The myth persists because businesses that invest in ads often invest in their website at the same time, and the website work is what moved the rankings.

What ads genuinely give you is data. Which search terms convert, what people actually type, which offers land. That is worth having before you commit months of SEO effort to the wrong keywords.

What does Google Ads management cost in South Africa?

Two separate numbers, and confusing them is how people get surprised.

Your ad spend goes to Google. You control it and it is entirely yours to set. Management is what an agency charges to run the account. Across the South African market that typically runs R2,500–R6,000 a month, or 10–20% of spend on larger accounts.

The number that matters is the two together. A R3,000 monthly budget with a R3,000 management fee means half your money never reaches a customer. That is why we will say no below about R8,000 of monthly spend — not because we do not want the work, but because the arithmetic does not work in your favour.

Is Google Ads worth it?

When the maths works, yes, and it is the fastest lever available to a South African small business. When it does not, it is the fastest way to spend money on nothing.

The test is simple: what is a customer worth to you over a year, and what does a click cost in your category? If ten clicks produce one enquiry, and one in three enquiries becomes a customer, you need thirty clicks per customer. Multiply by your cost per click and compare it to what that customer is worth. We will do that calculation with you before you spend anything, using real numbers from your business rather than industry averages.

What you get with us

Conversion tracking set up properly first, because without it everything else is guesswork. A negative keyword list that grows every week. Ads pointed at pages built to receive them. And a monthly report that says what you spent, what it bought, and what we changed.

We are a small Pretoria agency — you deal with the person running your account, not an account manager relaying messages.
